Ceramics have long been thought of as second-class in the art community. Being more of an accessory to a another major piece of art, rather than a stand alone design piece. This ideal is changing, however, most noticeably in the excitement of London Art Collectors. As Kelly Crow puts it in her article for the WSJ, “the global art market is trying to elevate clay art into the realm of the blue chip.”
